I have now passed the point where I have too many different games ranging from local multiplayer, games I am currently playing and games that I notwithstanding need to cease. Organizing those during the PS4 expanse was a god send.

I need those folders for PS5 Sony, common now!

Who else?

Folders or tags, some way to organise the library in a custom way. I don't know why it'south ever a dropped characteristic every new UI (talking near Nintendo here as well).

Folders should be there day one. Information technology's ridiculous.
And why the hell have less choices when I press "options" on a game in the library!? Can't even pivot or update a game on the chief screen without starting information technology first.

Can yous back up PS5 save games to USB now?

Honestly I don't know why features get removed every generation and then take ii or more than years to go back in. Then go removed once again adjacent fourth dimension. These are standard features that should be there day one. Imagine if Windows came out without folders and it took ii or more years to take hold of up with each major release.

It'due south crazy that Sony and Nintendo both dropped the ball on this for and then long, after having folders last gen

I accept 400 digital games and this doesn't bother me at all personally. I doubt if use them fifty-fifty if the system has them.

There is clearly a demand here for them though

How many generations has it been where new products don't have folders and it takes years to patch them in.

  • #12
Notwithstanding can't believe they weren't in at that place 24-hour interval ane.
Sometimes it feels like basic features such as folders are omitted at launch on purpose so they can have something to add in future software updates.
  • #thirteen
Folders are less useful for massive libraries, I'd rather take Steam-style dynamic collections.
  • #14
Omg yes. "Your Collection" is so bad. Information technology doesn't make any sense. The least they could exercise is make information technology more than visually appealing, especially since collecting digitally has get so pop.

Ideally, i'd take liked folders from 24-hour interval one. Like if Sony took the PS4 UI features and implemented them into the PS5 UI and built from there.

I'm not asking for clutter, but there is a lot of wasted existent estate on the PS5 front page.

That's exactly the reason, 1 has to be pretty naive to call up Sony didn't recollect near folders when making the PS5 UI, only they tin concur it off as a large "update" for the future

Took Nintendo five+ years to get anything resembling folders. As long every bit they don't have that long they're gilded.

Honestly I don't know why features get removed every generation and then have 2 or more years to go back in. Then get removed once again next time. These are standard features that should exist there day i. Imagine if Windows came out without folders and it took ii or more than years to catch up with each major release.

Trying to understand this besides. At this point folders should be considered an 'manufacture standard', and I can't effigy why features similar this don't drift across consoles from the go-go.

It's crazy how they fabricated a new UI for the sake of new, throwing skilful and popular functions from last gen'southward UI out. Folders now!

I barely used folders on PS4... just you know what I miss the about? The PS4 activeness feed, it was kinda overnice seeing which trophies my friends got recently.

There is a system for people who desire Folders, Themes and Relieve Backups... 😢

The situation with features that should be a baseline on these consoles in this generation is ridiculous.

This too. I used to expect at that all the time. Now the PS5 actually appears more enclosed and isolated from online virtually like a regression than the PS4 lol, because information technology's not always easily apparent what people are playing anymore it's hidden behind many options and button presses.

Before on PS4 you lot were able to instantly get to their list of recent games and activities from the activity feed, which was uodated in existent time and was easily accessible. Yous could even Like their action which was kinda cool and y'all'd get Likes also such equally platinuming a game people saw that in their action feed but that's gone.

You could also go an thought of the types of games they were playing from the activity feed and then go to the shop to cheque it out if yous wanted to buy it.

I just find the whole feature and Bone thing baroque with PS5. They were touting it as being very online and e'er connected with friends more than e'er before. Simply it's taken a few steps back in that regard lol.

Too I still don't know how to have a group go into a game and offset playing it together without inviting anybody individually. Have to send invites when in game to join it. It just doesn't seem seamless and more than of a downgrade in some aspects.

Never had a need for them but I only ever have a max of 3 games installed at once.

I'one thousand bold the usage on PS4 was pretty depression so its low on the priority listing for PS5.

Plus folders kinda suck for huge libraries. Would rather a tagging system or something. Also, the voice input works pretty well at this indicate for launching a random game not on the master bar.

+1 to missing the activeness feed. Whenever I employ my partners PS4 I remember how it made the whole platform feel more than connected. Now all you accept are online statuses and the selection to manually check friends trophies. On the phone app now it just shows your own recently played games.

Yeah it really feels less connected than before somehow lol. The irony of the marketing etc

Sony already helps you with a small ssd, this sounds like complaining for the sake of information technology.

I never had a PS4, so I jumped from PS3 to PS5, with Xbox being my main platform throughout. No joke -- I was shocked when I saw how lilliputian I could do in terms of organizing and personalizing on my PS5, which I ended upwardly getting first earlier the Series consoles just by luck of availability.

Didn't matter much at first, because my library was evidently pretty pocket-size, just I feel for long-time users. I have 15GB of Xbox games sitting there on my Series Ten drive/external/memory carte du jour. It would be such a mess if I couldn't organize at to the lowest degree my ongoing games, current games and "upward next" games, permit solitary my apps and stuff.

Simply seems such an obvious matter? The only affair I tin can think of is that they thought they had fourth dimension to broil it in considering the SSDs are so pocket-size and their data shows about people don't expand it? But it's been 18 months. Let's become already.

Folders in the traditional sense should die. More useful is having customizable and searchable metadata. Flag a game as in progress or local multiplayer, and you can easily observe them past searching and filtering through your game library.

Yeah, 620 or so games here.

I'd like a drawer in the quick bar for the activity cards.

This is one of my few big complaints well-nigh the ps5. Folders were a godsend on the ps4, it's pretty mind extraordinary the ps5 has been out for a year and a half now and it still doesn't have them.

I miss folders so much. I only have about ninety PS5 games so it's withal easy to go through, but I accept and so so many PS4 games on my external drive; I recollect over 300. I just want to organize them dammit.

The search and being in alphabetical order is enough for nigh people. I used to folder all my shit on PS3 + PS4 then realised information technology wasn't worth the hassle and you won't play 10% of your Installed games anyway.

Doesn't bother me. My nearly played games are on the home screen, otherwise I go to the library department for the ones that aren't.

Tagging system would work also, but nosotros actually don't have that either. They added the power to filter by tags in the latest update, which is astonishing it took that long given that functionality already existed in other versions of that view in other areas like the store, but without custom tags information technology'southward not very useful.

And vocalization input doesn't help with remembering what games I have in which genres.

I need them just to sort my arcade stuff, it's probably the main matter I miss from PS4

PS4 folders are absolutely horrible in my stance. The fact that I can't identify a game in multiple folders, the fact that I can just organise installed games in folders, and the fact that they have to announced on the home screen with no pick to just sort home screen games by appointment final played makes them completely useless for me. Wish Sony could take hints from Nintendo with respect to UX design and abode screen features in full general.

I hate it how much real manor is only used for useless wallpaper screen saver. As well why are the actual icons then tiny?!?

It wouldn't exist and so much of a problem for me if it just had improve Library filters. It's mad that they accept all these categories in their API, only don't betrayal them to the console to let us filter. Not just this, but some sections of the Library expose filters, only don't on others.

How handy would information technology be if I can quickly find all my VR-uniform games?

Information technology doesn't exist, merely hopefully with VR2 coming along they volition add this.

It's hilarious that folders fabricated it to PS4 after years of waiting, then they released PS5 without them and hither we are over a year later still no folders. Sony never changes.

I accept a huge backlog but I like the choice to filter by console (ps4/ps5). Good enough for me.
